WHAT IS KRAV MAGA?

Krav Maga focuses on real world situations, extreme efficiency, and brutal counter attacks. It encourages students to avoid confrontation, but if this is impossible, it trains students to finish a fight quickly and aggressively. Attacks are aimed for the most vulnerable parts of the body. Training covers the development of situational awareness, understanding the psychology of a street fight, and identifying threats before an attack occurs. Krav Maga has a philosophy of emphasizing aggression along with simultaneous defensive and offensive maneuvers. Krav Maga has now been adopted by various international security forces including the FBI, Interpol, CIA, US Navy Seals, Mossad, and Shin Bet.

Although development of Krav Maga started long before his time, it followed Bruce Lee’s philosophy strictly “Absorb what is useful, discard what is useless and add what is specifically your own”. To achieve this, Krav Maga borrows the most useful techniques from many different Martial Arts and Combat Sports to create the most effective fighting style for the street. Striking from Karate, Boxing, Kick boxing and Muay Thai. Grappling from Ju Jitsu, Judo. As Krav Maga was developed for the Military, while training with soldiers and law enforcement, knife and gun techniques were also developed. Unlike traditional Martial Arts and Combat Sports, Krav Maga is constantly being developed and improved.

KRAV MAGA VS. COMBAT SPORTS & MARTIAL ARTS

While Krav Maga borrows techniques from both martial arts and combat sports, it is neither.

A martial arts system has its basis in spirituality and rigid routines. These disciplines do have sparring, but it is in a very controlled environment, e.g. karate, kalaripayattu, kung fu, tai chi etc.

A combat sport takes place in the safety of rules, ring, and referee. An individual is trained to fight one opponent from a specific weight class, e.g. boxing, kick boxing, MMA, ju jitsu etc.

Both martial arts and combat sports train you well and prepare you for a fight. But a street fight has no rules, can have multiple attackers of different sizes, and attackers can be carrying  weapons. Fights take place on the street where the surroundings are unpredictable, and the situation can get chaotic.

Krav Maga is a self-defense system designed to tackle such situations.

Think about it this way.

A soldier would lose to a professional fighter in the ring with the rules and the referees.

But who do you think would survive in a real fight on the street? The soldier or the professional fighter?

Our goal in Krav Maga training is to learn some of those survival skills that the soldier possesses, and to fight like one when the time arises.

KRAV MAGA IN INDIA

"Self-Defense is not a choice, it's a responsibility." - Vicky Kapur, Director, IUKMF

Krav Maga was brought to India in 2003 by Vicky Kapur, in association with a few senior IKMF trainers from Israel. Master Vicky Kapur has over 46 years of experience in different Martial Arts. He has dedicated his life to empowering individuals with tools for survival and expounding the concept of survival through the management of internal and external conflicts. He has been working relentlessly towards training and upgrading individuals associated with the mission of self-defense, which led to the formation of International Ultimate Krav Maga Federation (IUKMF).

Today, IUKMF is the largest Krav Maga organization in India, and the only one to be officially recognized by the Government of India. Our organization has trained various special forces, military, police, and counter terrorism divisions across India, preparing them for threats from all sides.

If we're good enough for the military, you can be sure we're good enough for you.
